Blurry Vision

Artificial Intelligence improved in a very fast pace over the past few years. But that it works appropriately is not always the case. With this modern media research project, I questioned the inner workings of Google and their use of artificial intelligence. To be specific, I researched Google’s use of AI in Google Maps Street View.

I soon realised that I was going with a satirical approach. Google claims to use ‘advanced technology’, but I started questioning this from the first time I saw weirdly blurred body parts that were supposed to be blurred faces. I called the website I made: “How Google’s ‘advanced technology’ is sexualizing us”. Check it out here: https://davinapoot9.wixsite.com/blurry-vision
As a satirical result, I designed a fictive magazine called ‘Street View Erotica’, exaggerating the sexualisation of the human body parts.

If in the end it was a critique on the Google’s inaccuracy, inefficiency, or monopolist position, I’m still not sure but I guess I don’t have to choose.
