Soak 














Drinking tea represents a daily ritual for a lot of people and putting on socks is a daily ritual for a lot of people. Let me explain further :)

For this project I did an in dept research to ‘tea bags’, especially the usability they still have after usage. As I went on and on experimenting with the material and colour I extracted from it, I stumbled upon an idea that resulted in the concept ‘Soak’. Soak is a kit for colouring white socks as a reminder to reflect and pay attention to one’s daily goals > engaging in a meditative moment while making and reminding oneself of their goals while wearing.

There’s an instructional small booklet included to explain the colouring technique and how to read the socks (just like you would do with tarot cards). The ‘reading technique’ is inspired from a technique called ‘Tasseography’ (or tea leaf reading) which is a method of learning more about your destiny by reading the tea leaves at the bottom of your teacup as a form of guidance or meditation.



The connections I found between my coincidentally chosen sample fabric ‘socks’ and my material ‘tea’ were very interesting to me so I had to create an interactive product with it.
